Youth Sailing Lessons

Youth Lessons in our brand new RS Tera Youth Sailboats (aka Dinghies pronounced diNG ē)). A Dinghy is a small boat (in this case a single person sailboat) for recreation or racing. Dinghy’s can be sail, oar (rowboat) or motor powered…just think of any small boat as a dinghy.

Youth are taught the basics of wind, water safety, boat handling and learn to sail in the protected waters of the Corpus Christi Marina. Our focus is on fun, recreational sailing, and building a passion and respect for the water and the sport.

Suitable for ages 6+. We teach in our rotomolded TS Tera sailboats to all ages. The same boat is used as an entry point for every age. The only change is the size of the sail depending on the age/weight of the individual. Youth may be paired together initially and eventually work up to skippering their own boat. We also use the slightly larger RS Zest’s to take out the youngest sailors with a coach present depending on age/experience, size, and wind conditions.

Youth who really take to the sport may wish to look to the Race Team at Corpus Christi Yacht Club (CCYC) to take their skills to a competitive level. CCYC’s Youth Race Team is open to the public and teaches sailing with a focus on competing in Youth Regattas around Texas and on a National Level.
